Rainbow Six Siege Serves Up a Side of Chaos: Hackers Gone Wild!

Rainbow Six Siege Serves Up a Side of Chaos: Hackers Gone Wild!
December 29, 2025

What Just Happened?

So, on December 27, the official Rainbow Six Siege Twitter account managed to convey that they were aware of an “incident.” Now, when I say incident, I mean it was like a wild party gone wrong, courtesy of some hackers who decided to play god in Siege. Players suddenly found themselves with billions of in-game credits, exclusive skins that even the developers couldn’t get their hands on, and bans that came and went like a really bad magician’s trick. Oh, and as a cherry on top, some of those cheeky bans included messages like the lyrics to Shaggy’s hit, “It Wasn’t Me.” Truly, it was a hacker’s paradise, and players couldn’t decide whether to laugh or cry!

Server Down, Panic Up!

After the server threw in the towel due to the unparalleled chaos, Ubisoft decided it was best to shut everything down. They confirmed this on X, likely scratching their heads at the pandemonium. Of course, while they grandly announced that nobody would face penalties for their surprise influx of credits, they also mentioned a rollover of all transactions that occurred during the shenanigans. So, you better believe those credit farmers had to hit the brakes fast.

Meanwhile, the web was on fire with memes, confusion, and players using platforms to educate each other with heartfelt warnings not to spend their unearned loot. Best tempers were flaring, too! One can only imagine the thrill of sharing frustration as users flocked to discuss the madness within the game’s subreddit.

Everything’s a tad bit calmer now with the servers returning as of December 28; however, the marketplace is still a no-show. Fingers crossed this whole debacle won’t happen again, but knowing hackers, they probably have other tricks up their sleeves for the next episode of ‘As the Server Crashes.’
