Back to the Mojave Wasteland!

Oh boy, it’s like Christmas in the desert! Fallout: New Vegas modders have unearthed some treasure from a beta build that somehow found its way into our hands. You see, this golden nugget of a build is a hefty 2GB larger than the retail game, and let me tell you, it’s packed tighter than a Deathclaw’s backside with stuff that didn’t make it into the final cut. Why? Because the folks at Obsidian had to trim the fat to fit all the lovably buggy content onto those tiny Xbox 360 discs. But hey, who needs disc space when you’re modding on PC?

The Comeback of Beloved Characters and Locations

First on the modding hit list is none other than Marilyn, a charming NPC who was more elusive than a white glove at a poker game. This gal managed to sneak her way onto the playing cards in the Collector’s Edition, but for some reason, the game developers decided to take her out like an unwanted houseguest. Fear not, for our hero modders have restored her! I personally chose the Marilyn Restored mod to bring her fabulousness back into my game.

Then there’s Mr. House, who got a cheeky makeover thanks to another mod bringing back his original portrayal, which looked like Steve Buscemi level sketchy. Did you know his Lucky 38 casino was meant to have a bespoke set of trash cans featured in an intro cutscene? Well, worry no more! Thanks to the Lucky 38 Trash Cans Restored mod, your waste disposal woes are a thing of the past.

And we can’t forget about the locations. Mods like Beta Goodsprings Restored and Restored Nipton Train Station kindly inject some well-overdue pizzazz into our hometowns. Seriously, how could you ever call it a day in Goodsprings without the full neon glow of the Prospector Saloon? It’s like ordering a burger without cheese. Tragic!

Let’s talk about the smaller modifications too, shall we? The Original (red) Tribal Armor Restored mod is a brilliant little addition for fashionistas in the wasteland, while the Clean Tops Casino Interior allows you to lounge in stylish squalor. My personal favorite? Beta Posters Restored—because who doesn’t want their casino to feature suggestive posters of early performers? It’s like they took a rather innocent vibe and cranked it up to eleven!

So let’s applaud these fearless modders for piecing together the bits of Fallout: New Vegas we never knew we were missing. When the apocalypse gives you scraps, make a mod! Now get out there, scavenger, and embrace the chaos!
