Valheim 1.0 is Here!

Hold onto your helmets, Viking warriors! The day has finally come for Valheim to step out of the shadows of early access and into the light of 1.0! After a glorious five years in development, we’re not just getting a slap on the back; we’re diving headfirst into a brand new biome known as the Deep North. It’s packed to the rafters with excitement: two thrilling new dungeons, the rowdiest enemy we’ve ever faced, and—wait for it—rideable moose! And yes, even trolls you can mine. Who knew trolls could be more than just pesky nuisances?

What About Valheim 2?

So, what’s cooking in Iron Gate’s cauldron after this epic update? Well, gather ’round because there’s a twist! Art Lead and Creative Director, Robin ‘Grimmcore’ Eyre, along with Producer Andreas ‘Lumaaah’ Tomasson, set the record straight at Gamescom 2026. Spoiler alert: no Valheim 2 in our future folk! Instead, they heard your calls loud and clear. Players kept shouting for more content, not a sequel. It seems you all want to see more growth, more treasures, and of course, more opportunities to conquer (or be crushed by) this rich Viking fantasy world. And trust us, Iron Gate is stepping up! Expect some fantastic new goodness in the post-1.0 world.

Eyre mentions how the community’s demands have led them on unexpected journeys, like the unexpected combat update they dropped because you all wanted it. Talk about being responsive! The team is clearly committed to riding the Valheim wave and soaking it all up for as long as you’ll have them.

Exciting Future Projects!

But wait—there’s more! The creative masterminds behind Valheim aren’t just kicking back after the major update. We’ve seen some intriguing side projects from the Iron Gate team. Watch out for Eyre and Tomasson’s co-op horror thrilla called Begraved, and don’t ignore Lead Engineer Jonathan Smårs’ Starpath, where you can construct your own starship and zoom around the cosmos. Who knows? Maybe we’ll see more of these quirky spin-offs, or perhaps dipping into new ventures in the ever-expanding Valheim universe (we’re calling it the Valiverse!). Whatever it is, our excitement levels are through the roof! If they drop a Netflix show about Valheim, we’ll be binge-watching all weekend!
