Anticipation in the Air

So, here I am, sitting on the edge of my seat, eagerly waiting for that shiny new game from the RPG wizards over at Owlcat. It’s called The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, and let me tell you, it’s got my Mass Effect-loving brain doing happy little flips. It’s like a birthday party for gamers, and the cake is made of total nostalgia!

What’s Cooking in the Cosmic Kitchen?

Let’s be real, life is tough for us BioWare fans right now. Remember that game called Veilguard? Yeah, it didn’t get the love it deserved, and honestly, it feels like BioWare is hanging by a thread. But wait! There’s hope on the horizon! Other developers are swooping in like superheroes to deliver those epic, cinematic RPGs we crave. Enter Larian, CD Projekt, and now Owlcat, who are all set to sprinkle some of that Mass Effect magic onto the stars with Osiris Reborn.

Recently, Owlcat dropped a sneak peek of the game’s main theme, and boy, does it hit all the right notes! The mastermind behind the soundtrack, Paweł Perepelica, previously worked his magic on Pathfinder and Warhammer 40K titles. Who knew an audio track could put a goofy grin on your face? With a blend of lofty space opera vibes and cool cyberpunk synths, this theme teleports me back to 2007, when my greatest worry was saving the galaxy and figuring out what to have for lunch.

Now, I’m curious to see how Owlcat shakes things up by stepping away from their isometric CRPGs to dive into an action RPG. This is like watching your favorite indie band suddenly land a record deal and become world-famous. They might just surprise everyone! Could this be their moment in the spotlight, like when Fool’s Gold hit the radio? We’re all rooting for them!

Can we take a moment to appreciate how we can’t even tell if Osiris Reborn will be a smashing success just yet? But I’ve been head over heels for Owlcat since they rescued me from boredom while I was battling COVID-19. The Expanse: Osiris Reborn doesn’t have a launch date yet, but you can totally add it to your Steam wishlist. Plus, Owlcat is offering some pretty sweet founder pack preorder options on their website. You know, just in case you want to feel super special!

And don’t think Owlcat is just twiddling their thumbs while we wait. They’ve got their hands full with a publishing venture that’s all set to bring us more fantastic games, including a Disco Elysium-like adventure called Rue Valley. Plus, they’re still supporting Rogue Trader while gearing up for another epic ride in the 40K universe with Dark Heresy. This team is busier than a squirrel in a nut factory!
