Crimson Desert’s Launch: Bugging Out Over Bonuses

Crimson Desert's Launch: Bugging Out Over Bonuses
March 20, 2026

Launch Day Chaos

So, Crimson Desert just dropped today, and whoa, it made quite a splash with a whopping 239,045 players logging in on Steam. Not bad for a game that barely registered on most radars just a couple of months ago! But hold your horses (or, um, camels?) because things aren’t all sunshine and rainbows. There’s a nasty little bug running rampant, keeping players from grabbing their pre-order and deluxe pack bonuses. Eek!

Players are reporting that the in-game supply box, which is supposed to be stuffed with their pre-order goodies, looks as empty as my fridge on a Sunday night. This has definitely got a few folks miffed, but there’s hope on the horizon — Pearl Abyss is on the case!

What is Going On?

In case you missed the memo, here’s what the studio folks posted: “We’ve got our tech wizards working hard to solve an issue where Steam pre-order purchasers can’t claim their pre-order bonus and deluxe pack items. We’re really sorry about this hassle and promise to update you ASAP.”
The pre-order bonus includes the coveted Khaled Shield, while the deluxe pack is packed (pun intended!) with even more loot: another shield, four pieces of horse armor, and an entire Kairos armor set for the protagonist. Now, whether this loot is super awesome or just shiny junk? Who knows! The Steam community definitely can’t tell because they can’t access any of it!

Comparing numbers, Crimson Desert’s launch is respectable, but it’s also considered by some to be still crawling when stacked next to the likes of Resident Evil Requiem, which hit 270,000 players just two hours post-launch! And if you’re dreaming of numbers anywhere near Black Myth: Wukong’s 2.1 million concurrent players? Well, better lower those expectations.

But hey, whether or not it’s a mega hit, it’s still a wild ride for those of us who get excited about sprawling open-world adventures, filled with all kinds of intricacies. As one reviewer hilariously described it, “Vast and obtuse in a way that will both frustrate and exhilarate!” Not bad, right?

So, while we all patiently wait for updates and fixes, stay tuned — there’s bound to be more wild stuff happening in the world of Crimson Desert!
