Totally Awesome New Mechanics!

Alright folks, grab your popcorn, because Creative Assembly has dropped a bombshell about the upcoming Tides of Torment DLC for Total War: Warhammer 3, set to crash into your screens on December 4. And let me tell you, this is not your run-of-the-mill expansion; we’re talking about three separate add-ons, each featuring a brand spankin’ new legendary lord and their kooky army. If you’re not into breaking the bank, there’s even a bundle option that’ll save your wallet while boosting your game!

Now, let’s be real. Each of these new lords is going to shake things up more than a lava lamp in an earthquake. I mean, have you heard about Sea Lord Aislinn? This High Elf is rolling out with the Sea Patrol naval horde, and boy, do they have a flair for the dramatic. Instead of just stomping through towns and castles like your average conqueror, they hand over defeated settlements to their High Elf buddies! Talk about teamwork! But hey, they still keep a cozy outpost there for some limited building magic. And instead of relying on those old boring settlements for upgrades, Aislinn’s crew has dragonships. Yep, you heard that right—floating fortresses that are practically little economies on the water! They’re like a fancy cruise line, but way more deadly.

Meet the New Lords and Their Quirky Armies

As you might expect, Tides of Torment brings a whole buffet of new units! Okay, let’s pump the brakes on that “40 NEW UNITS” slogan, because let’s be honest—some of those are just slight twists on the same old characters with shiny new weapon load-outs. But fear not, my friends! We’ve still got some awesome new entries like the merwyrm (just a fancy sea serpent, if you ask me) and the eagle-powered Lothern skycutter, zooming into battle like a majestic feathered missile.

On the flip side, we have Dechala the Denied One, who takes a unique approach to conquered territories. Forget the usual town hall nonsense; she transforms her captures into thrall camps to fluff up the economy, tormentor’s holds for both recruitment and defense, or outright pleasure palaces that serve as swanky venues for advanced building fun. Who knew conquest could involve so many perks?

With Dechala, players get to play around with a quirky currency called Decadence—that’s right, folks, nothing says ‘I’m winning’ like a stockpile of decadence! Use that to level up your pleasure palaces and unlock wild boons! And if that wasn’t enough, she can sacrifice some thralls to unleash devastating area-of-effect damage, summoning a Spawn of Slaanesh right when you least expect it! Also, her units include the rather oddball preyton—think of a mutant deer that went through a portal and came out all jacked up.

And hold onto your horse-lords because last but certainly not least is Sayl the Faithless, who’s crashing the Norscan party with his own starting province dubbed Mountain’s End. Sayl has that classic arch-traitor vibe going on and comes equipped with the totally devious Manipulations mechanic which allows him to stir up chaos for enemies on the campaign map. Just when you thought things couldn’t get wilder, Sayl can build Chaos Altars that lead to epic questlines, complete with battles and dilemmas that would make your grandma clutch her pearls!

Creative Assembly promises more juicy goodies about Aislinn, Dechala, and Sayl leading up to launch, so keep your eyes peeled on February to catch the latest updates, gameplay showcases, and all that jazz. You definitely won’t want to miss what these ever-so-slightly unhinged new lords are up to!
