Introducing Splitgate Arena Reloaded: A Retro FPS Revival!
A Blast from the Past
Welcome back, my fellow gamers! Get ready for an epic return to form, because Splitgate 2 is no longer. Instead, we’re diving into the freshly minted Splitgate Arena Reloaded! What’s that, you ask? Well, it’s the charmingly chaotic arena shooter we loved, now stripped down and polished to a gleam, ready to unleash some serious portal-fueled fun.
Out with the Old, In with the Classic
Now, let’s be real. Splitgate 2 was like a kid on Christmas morning, bursting with ideas but with too many gifts under the tree – some of which no one even wanted to unwrap. Sure, it had some snazzy features, but they took away from the exhilarating, straightforward brawls that made the original so fantastic. So, after some serious soul-searching and a generous dose of beta testing, the team decided to toss out the controversial hero abilities. Bye-bye, fancy powers! Hello, pure gunplay and classic portal action!
The brains behind the game, Josh Watson, the design director, put it perfectly: “We’ve been hard at work rebuilding the game from the ground up, taking the best of Splitgate 1 and Splitgate 2, removing what didn’t work, and refining what did.” Now, with this new direction, we’re set for some high-octane frag-fests!
But wait, there’s more! Prepare for a wholesome dose of nostalgia, as Arena Reloaded brings in new modes, refreshing playlists, and even a Classic Arena mode with equal starts and powerups! That’s right, no more of the heavy baggage that cluttered up Splitgate 2 – we’re embracing the simplicity of yesteryears.
They’ve also tossed in five shiny new maps and revved up six classics, just to keep you guessing where you might get ambushed next. As for weaponry, you can look forward to three new primary weapons and, for those feeling spicy, the Railgun joins the party as a special power weapon!
Let’s talk progression, shall we? The revamped system means that climbing up the ranks should feel like a wild ride rather than a slog through molasses. And hey, they heard your cries about the price tags in the store! Expect better deals and polished cosmetics so your character can look fabulous while you frag away!
Mark your calendars, folks! Splitgate Arena Reloaded is aiming for a free-to-play launch on Steam and the Epic Games Store this December 17. Fingers crossed that this second time’s the charm, bringing back the crowd for more explosive fun!
