Old School Runescape 25th Anniversary: Keycaps and Upcoming Adventures!
Celebrating 25 Years of Adventure
Forget about Old School Runescape’s new raid that comes every four years—I’ve got my eyes on those retro font keycaps!
With big changes in Modern Runescape, or as we like to call it Runescape 3 (for those who nostalgia trip back to the 2000s), the spotlight is now on the classic version that’s rocked the MMO world for a quarter of a century. Jagex has laid out an exciting roadmap to celebrate the franchise’s 25th anniversary, featuring a year packed with content and a very angry cow!
What’s New in Gielinor?
Jagex recently had a cozy chat about what’s on the horizon for Old School Runescape (OSRS). Alongside the thrilling return of Leagues in April, players can expect some glorious bonus XP drops, fresh Echo bosses, loot boosts, and the Demonic Pacts to shake things up in combat. Oh, and let’s not forget about Deadman: Annihilation making its comeback as the temporary battle royale we didn’t know we needed until February 21. That’s when tickets for the Deadman: Allstars finale drop—hello, Chicago-slaying!
But let’s not just talk about bloodshed; let’s embrace the waterworks! This year promises to be a little dreary with expansions for Sailing set to take center stage. This includes vague boat combat tweaks in spring and, by summer, a player-designed island where we’ll be soaking up the waves. Fall is set to bring the Barracuda Trial along with a sequel to a previous Sailing tale—could we be wading into the deep end? Keep your floaties handy!
For those with a penchant for lore, there’s the climactic end to the ever-popular Myreque storyline with the upcoming ‘Blood Moon Rises’ quest. After nearly two decades of dodging fang-filled threats, our hero finally faces off against Drakan (vampires really do age well!). Just a heads-up—this battle is rumored to be tougher than Count Draynor; you might want to pack some superior snacks to keep you going!
The Exciting Road Ahead
And then there’s the shiny new Fractured Archive, the first OSRS raid popping in more than four years. Jagex is keeping mum about details, but if you’ve been contemplating your grand return to Gielinor, don those armor sets and get ready! Winter is coming, and it’s not all about the ice and snow—this raid is touted as the toughest yet—prepare those muscles for some serious gaming!
Now, back to those keycaps I can’t get out of my head! If you’re not tempted to type “buying gf” on those beauties, I don’t know what to say—no offense to potential girlfriends out there! And if flashy keycaps aren’t your jam, maybe the hand-painted TzKal-Zuk keycap will tickle your fancy?
Jagex is rolling out a wave of merchandise, including a specially designed PC that barely acknowledges old Runescape but instead focuses on its FPS in flashier titles. It even comes with nifty godsword wall art, a nostalgic mousepad featuring an iconic login screen, and an acrylic platelight of the Wise Old Man (who seriously better hit ‘refresh’ on that CPU for Gielinor’s epic graphics).
Cheers to Jagex—here’s to 25 more years of adventure, keycaps, and perhaps some milky madness involving Brutus the Cow in the spring. Don’t worry; there’ll still be new quests and rewards for every holiday. Hold onto those hats!
