We haven’t had much news since it was first whispered into existence, but today’s news is a juicy one: Brian Holinka, a former bigwig at Blizzard, has decided to join the party at Riot Games. And by ‘party,’ I mean the fancy, secretive development of the League of Legends MMO!

Brian’s got quite the resume, having spent over a decade at Blizzard and even taking the reins as the lead combat designer for that little gem known as World of Warcraft. So, what did he say about his new gig? Well, his excitement was practically bubbling over on LinkedIn when he announced, “Today is my first official day at Riot on the League of Legends MMO!” Welcome aboard, Brian! The Drama Behind the Scene

Now, if you didn’t know, Holinka decided to leave Blizzard back in 2023, which is kinda like quitting a rock band only to join an up-and-coming symphony orchestra. After his exit, he took a detour to a new studio called Fantastic Pixel Castle—founded by his buddy Greg Street, who was leading the League of Legends MMO until he also jumped ship. Apparently, it was all fun and games until funding dried up faster than a sponge in the Sahara!

Shifting gears, in the past few months, Riot has been busy sprinkling some serious WoW magic into its MMO development team. Just a mere five months ago, they snagged another ex-WoW lead producer, Raymond Bartos.
